Code of Conduct, Member Protection and Complaints Handling
MEMBER PROTECTION POLICY AND PROCEDURES – UPDATED MAY 2018
Our Club is governed by the current policies and procedures of our national governing body Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA).
The latest SLSA Member Protection Policy (released May 2018) includes:
- a Member Protection Policy
- a Code of Conduct
- a Child Protection Commitment Statement
- Reporting and Complaints Procedures

MEMBER PROTECTION INFORMATION OFFICER (MPIO)
Our MPIO provides information to all Club members about the rights, responsibilities and options available to an individual making a complaint in sport. The MPIO can also inform and advise sport administrators and complaint handlers regarding SLSA policies. The MPIO is impartial and doesn’t mediate or investigate complaints.
Our Club’s current MPIO is David Mewett, and he can be contacted through the Club office.
MEMBER PROTECTION DECLARATION FORMS
A condition of club membership for all members and associates, is to complete and sign a member protection declaration form at the time of registration.
PLAY BY THE RULES
Our Club supports the Play By The Rules initiative of the Australian, State and Territory governments. The initiative aims to increase the capacity and capability of administrators, coaches, officials, players, parents and spectators, to prevent and deal with discrimination, harassment, child safety, inclusion and integrity issues in sport.
