North Wollongong SLSC welcomes all new members to join our friendly and family-oriented community. Please read through the membership information carefully and if you have any questions you may contact us by phone or email.

Annual membership is from 1 October to 30 September the following year. There are two main membership categories: Senior Membership and Family Membership. Family membership is for Nippers. Senior membership is for Patrolling members and Associate members.

Special discounted membership fees will apply for the 2021/22 & 2022/23 seasons while renovations occur. No fees will be apply to Patrolling members. All other members will effectively pay 50% of the previous season’s rates.


Persons aged 14 years to 18 are covered by Family Membership and join the club as a Cadet. Under this category, members are required to complete specific surf life saving awards and perform patrol duties.

To be an active lifesaving member of the club, you need to do the following:

  1. Register online as a new member or renew your existing membership.
  2. Pay an annual membership fee if applicable (will not apply for the 21/22 & 22/23 seasons)
  3. Complete an annual proficiency test/pool proficiency by the 31st of December each year.
  4. Do minimum patrol requirements of 25hrs.

Where a fee is payable, Members MUST be financial. This is a compulsory requirement, which covers legal and insurance policies. Members who are not financial are not eligible to participate in Club, Inter-Club or State Championship Competitions.

The Senior Membership fees for the 21/22 season are as follows (these fees will carry over and cover membership for the 22/23 season) :

  1. Cadet (14-17yrs) – $0.00
    Members aged 14 years to 17 years as at 30th September each year
  2. Patrol (18yrs+) – $0.00
    A member who holds a Bronze Medallion and completes full patrol and club duties. They must complete an Annual Proficiency Test unless they obtained their Bronze Medallion during the season.
  3. Active Reserve – $0.00/year
    Members who have completed 10 years satisfactory service since obtaining their Bronze Medallion. They shall be rostered for Patrol Duty as required by the Competition Committee. Apply at the AGM for conversion.
  4. Associate (aged over 28yrs or a young parent) – $100.00
    An associate member may take part in all club social activities and has access to the change rooms. Does not patrol.
  5. Associate + Gym – $N/A
    Not available for 2021 – a new gym will be part of the renovated clubhouse.
  6. Long service – $70.00
    Members who have completed 4 years satisfactory service as an Active Reserve member or members who have completed 12 years satisfactory service since obtaining their Bronze Medallion. Eligible members must apply to the Club for Long Service membership. Long Service members are exempt from all patrol obligations. Long Service Members who have reached the age of 60 on 1st October.
  7. Life Members – $0
    Application for life membership must be made at the AGM. Nominations need to be submitted to the committee 1 month prior to the AGM and circulated to the members for discussion and consideration so a vote can be made at the AGM[Please note: Only those marked with a * include use of the gym]
    Children aged between 5 and 13 must join as part of a family membership with at least one adult who joins as an associate member. NWSLSC accepts Active Kids Vouchers. As a volunteer organization, all adult members of the club are encouraged to get involved – there is no additional cost if more than parent/guardian joins. In particular we encourage parents/guardians to gain their Bronze Medallion award so that they can participate as active members and help run the Nippers training.
