Eligibility and Registration

Joining Nippers at North Wollongong Surf Life Saving Club is easy and just takes a few simple steps!

The age group for the season is determined as at midnight on the 30th of September. Listed below are the age groups that junior members will be in for the 2026/27 season if they are born between the following dates:

• U6*  1st October 2020 to 30th September 2021
• U7    1st October 2019 to 30th September 2020
• U8    1st October 2018 to 30th September 2019
• U9    1st October 2017 to 30th September 2018
• U10  1st October 2016 to 30th September 2017
• U11  1st October 2015 to 30th September 2016
• U12  1st October 2014 to 30th September 2015
• U13  1st October 2013 to 30th September 2014
• U14  1st October 2012 to 30th September 2013

* Note: Children must be 5 years old before they can be registered. A child who turns 5 after the 30th September of that season can join for the remainder of the season, however will also stay in the U/6 for the following season according to SLSNSW. This is a national standard to comply with insurance requirements. Email us to discuss options for 4 year-olds who will turn 5 during the season.
  

To cover many of the operational costs, North Wollongong SLSC requires all nippers and at least one parent/guardian to be financial members  (Parents/guardians become Associate Members). 

Membership fees for the current season are –

• Adult (parents/guardians): $80 (each)
• Nipper: $50 (each)

Other fees that may be incurred include a pink hi-vis rash vest, coloured age cap/club cap, club swimmers, and carnival entry levy.

• U6 – Yellow skull cap $15
• U7 – Green skull cap $15
• U8 – U14 – Club skull cap $15 + pink hi-vis rash vest $25 OR pink hi-vis rash shirt $30

These items can be purchased from the club office along with additional club merchandise such as swimmers, hats, shirts and beanies on Sunday mornings (during nippers) or during the week; Mon - Thurs 8am – 2.30pm.

All Nippers must be registered with the Club, and Surf Life Saving Australia prior to participating in any events. Register online via the SLSA website - sign up as the parent/guardian first, and then add the nipper/s: https://hub.sls.com.au/

To participate in water activities, all Under 6 to Under 14 nippers must complete water proficiency assessments, in line with Surf Life Saving Australia's national requirements.
